Training committees oversee training within a region, and may discuss any training issues, and the interaction of training and service provision. It is chaired by the Training Programme Director (TPD). Since 2009 the TPD is appointed by the postgraduate deanery (and therefore by NES, NHS Education Scotland), but in practice it candidates will usually be nominated by members of the Training Committee rather than imposed on them.
The South East Scotland Training Committee meets approximately twice annually. All those with formal roles as educational supervisors are members. A trainee representative and a representative from Fife are part of the core membership, and our GIM liaison person/mentor and the PG Dean or their representative are members. In addition all educational supervisors are invited to attend.
